Dear Valued, Health Care Coalition, Pediatric Disaster Coalition/Advisory Council, leader/member and or other interested parties.

On behalf of the National Pediatric Disaster Coalition (NPDC), I invite you to join our coalition to support disaster preparedness for children and their families.

Whereas children comprise one quarter of the population in the United States, the mission of the NPDC is to advance community preparedness, mitigation, response and recovery for infants, children, and their families in disasters. The NPDC was established at the first National Pediatric Coalition Disaster Conference, held November 2015 in Scottsdale Arizona. The conference was attended by over 200 participants and was dedicated to sharing up to date presentations and interactive discussions related to current pediatric coalition practices and future planning. The NPDC includes nationally recognized Pediatric Emergency and Disaster Preparedness Experts and representatives from ASPR, NACCD, CDC, HRSA, FEMA, Homeland Security and EMSC. The NPDC is an advocacy group dedicated to the development of programs and activities that will provide the best outcome for children and families in disasters. The NPDC also serves as an information clearinghouse on Pediatric Disaster Preparedness informed by real world events, pediatric disaster research and evolving best practices. Our NPDC listserv connects a broad network of local, regional and national community and governmental providers including physicians, nurses, mental health providers, EMS professionals and emergency managers.

For a copy of the 2015 NPDC Conference Report summarizing the lessons learned from our subject matter experts across the United States, please go to our website at Additional information on joining our listserv and links to valuable toolkits, webinars and best practices are available on this site as well.

As a leader in your local disaster preparedness coalition we encourage you to join us by contacting Pat Frost at We look forward to working with you on providing best outcomes for children and their families.

Thank you,
Michael Frogel, MD FAAP
Chair, NPDC
